The increase in the rate of the COVID19 infection have caused the federal government of Nigeria to slow down plans to relaxing of confinement measures specially on religion gatherings Nigeria communities mainly localised in the south has its share of the lockdown effects.

Bishop David Oyedepo, Founder of one of the largest evangelical mega churches in Nigeria with some church founders are agitating for the reopening of churches. Pastor David Oyedepo during his prayer service session online said the church is God’s banquet hall where spiritual food to keep alive and strong are been fed to people, so whatever stops the church from fellowshipping is out to destroy what God is building. 

On the other hand the General overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly Church, Pastor Tunde BAkare encourages fellow spiritual leaders who are calling for reopening of worship centres to collaborate with the government and be prepared to offer some of their halls for government use as isolation Centres

On Sunday 4th of June, 2020 during the live telecast of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Online service, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye the General Overseer of the RCCG, charges his fellow and members to continually comply with government rules to keep all save against the covid19 pandemic. He asked them for corporate prayers for those below the age of thirteen and above Fifty years the required age to participate in the physical service so that very soon they will be able to join the physical worship services.

Pastor Adeboye encourages all parishes who are now able to meet and have physical services to ensure a clean, safe and conducive environment and also make rules and guidelines for their services, the use of nose mask and maintaining physical distancing should be encouraged.
